In December 2025, the Rotaract E-Club Haiti Global transformed a simple idea into a month-long movement: prevention as empowerment. From December 1st to December 27th, in close collaboration with the Rotaract Haiti Board, we led a comprehensive Health & Wellness Campaign aimed at promoting preventive behaviors, raising awareness about common health conditions, and improving access to essential screening services in Cap-Haïtien.

Rather than organizing a single-day activity, the initiative was structured as a sustained campaign. Throughout the month, health education messages were shared online, preparing the community for what would become a powerful in-person intervention. The digital campaign ensured that prevention messages reached approximately 2,839 people online. The campaign culminated on December 27th with a Health & Wellness Day that brought services directly to the community.

Approximately 200 people were reached in person during the event, and 130 individuals benefited from at least one medical screening. The data revealed important realities. Among 101 valid blood pressure measurements, 30.7% of participants were identified with hypertension, highlighting a significant cardiovascular risk within the community. Of the 86 participants who received blood glucose testing, 10.5% presented suspected hyperglycemia and 5.8% met the criteria for probable diabetes. In addition, 73 individuals were screened for sexually transmitted infections, leading to the identification of two HIV-positive cases and six positive cases of syphilis. All individuals requiring care were appropriately referred for follow-up according to established health protocols. Early detection became immediate action.

The campaign also addressed health beyond the physical dimension. On December 21st, a mental health conference under the theme “Breathe, Balance, Survive” created space for conversations around stress management, emotional resilience, and mental well-being in a challenging social context. By integrating physical screenings and mental health awareness within the same initiative, we reinforced a holistic understanding of well-being.

Prevention was not limited to information or testing. Nearly 200 Health Boost Kits were distributed, each containing multivitamins, condoms, and essential medications for hypertension and diabetes. These kits ensured that the impact extended beyond the event itself, giving participants practical tools to continue caring for their health after they returned home.

The success of the initiative was made possible through strong collaboration. The Rotaract Haiti Board, Rotary E-Club Delmas-Centre, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), Konbit San Pou San, the Rotaract Club of the Campus Henry Christophe of Limonade, independent physicians, and the Centre de Traitement du Cancer et de Chirurgie Générale all contributed to strengthening the quality and reach of the project. Each partnership added capacity, expertise, and resilience to an initiative implemented in a complex logistical context.

More than statistics, this campaign represented access, dignity, and awareness. It demonstrated that community-based prevention can save time, resources, and potentially lives. By combining education, screening, follow-up, and partnership within a single coordinated effort, we delivered not just an event, but a sustained commitment to community well-being.
